Open University Information Technology Officers Union
Open University Information Technology Officers' Union was established on 08th September 2003, with the objective of solutions to their professional problems and enhancing their knowledge and skills relevant to their field. The seed concept of establishing the union was germinated by Messrs Nilmini Kurukulasuriya, Bandula Rupasinghe, Kapila Geeganage, Devika Lokuge, Palitha Tennakoon and Rasangani Jayathilaka. At the first Annual General Meeting held on 18th September 2003 .
Objectives of the ITOU
- To organize all the categories of employees related to information technology under one flag
- to protect, examine & develop their rights & privileges, and ensure their benefits
- to improve skills & knowledge of members related to information technology according to current needs
to enhance economic standards of the members - Providing one or all following benefits to the members
- a) Relief act time of trade disputes & revengefulacts and other assistance related to their employment
b) Providing legal advice & assistance in relation to their employment - Regulate relationship between ITOU & other unions, between members and their employees
to represent members at time of trade disputes
